CliffClan

Because they make their home in the most dangerous terrain of all, facing the threat of falling off the cliff faces or being mobbed by a group of seagulls, CliffClan's most renowned leader, Hawkstar, asked StarClan to bless his Clan with wings.

Visual:

• Wing colorings must match the appearance of a cat. Therefore, if the cat is all-gray, the wings must be all-gray. If the cat is an orange tabby, the wings can either be plain orange or orange with pale stripes, etc. Different colored wingtips may be bought in the shop.
  
  
• Wing sizes more or less match the length of a cat's tail. If a cat has an abnormally long tail, his wings will be abnormally long. Wingspans in a full-grown cat may range from 2-5 feet.
  
  
• Wings are present, but tiny, at birth. From 4 moons old, CliffClan cats can start to use their wings to jump farther or glide for a split second, but only at 6 moons is a cat finally able to maintain flight, and even then not for very long. Wings come to their full size at 12 moons, so newly-named warriors are still required to go through some flight training for a moon or two.

Some Practical Uses:

• Catching flying birds
  
• Moving across the cliff face with wings to help balance
  
• Swooping down upon prey
  
• Catching fish from the surf (only very experienced cats may do this)
  
• Escaping earthbound predators
  
• Surprising enemies

Downsides:

• Because of their wings, most CliffClan cats cannot swim at all, except for the occasional dive into the ocean and quick leap back out.
  
• CliffClan cats cannot run well across open land, as their wings weigh them down.

BrushClan

Generations of moving through the thick, tangled underbrush of their territory provided BrushClan warriors with good night vision and stealthy methods, but it was not quite enough to keep them well-fed. Therefore, BrushClan's most famous leader, Tanglestar, asked StarClan for the ability to sense prey. Therefore, StarClan blessed them with eyes able to see in heat vision. In other words, at night they see bodies of prey animals and predators as red and orange blobs of light.

Visual:

• Because of their strange sight, BrushClan cats have bright-colored eyes. Blue, green, red, yellow, orange, violet...etc. They do not have eyes that are mute-colored (therefore no brown, gray, black, amber, etc.)
  
  
• At night, the cats' eyes glow in the dark. This is not easy to keep hidden from prey and predators, but it is a small price to pay for such abilities.
  
  
• Same as most cats, the kits of BrushClan are born with regular blue eyes. While some retain this eye color as they grow up, most cats' eyes change.
  
  
• Young cats have a hard time maneuvering at night until they learn how to understand the orange and red blobs of light that show them where animals are. Therefore kits and young apprentices are not allowed to go out at night without a warrior or older apprentice with them.

Some Practical Uses:

• Sighting prey in the dead of night
  
• Keeping clear of predators at night
  
• Keeping watch for invading cats at night
  
• Attacking enemies at night

Downsides:

• Glow-in-the-dark eyes make it a little difficult for BrushClan cats to sneak up on things, so they have to learn how to deal with this.
  
• Untrained cats can grow confused by the blobs of color they see at night.

WaveClan

Fish do not always swim close to shore, and gulls do not always rest on the beaches of WaveClan's territory. So what could a warrior do but swim out into the ocean and try to snag a fish? Breezestar of WaveClan asked StarClan for webbed paws and the ability to hold their breaths longer than average (up to a few minutes, but no longer).

Visual:

• Obviously, the paws of WaveClan cats are not normal cat paws. Though still furry and clawed, these cats' paws are much wider than normal, with webbing between their toes.
  
  
• Not a result of the blessing but rather of breeding, the cats of WaveClan all have short, sleek fur and long, wide, rudder-like tails. Their bodies are narrow and streamlined.
  
  
• When younger than about 6 moons, the webbing on a cats' paws is so small that they really don't help much with swimming. Only when a cat enters training and begins to grow up does the webbing begin to help.
  
  
• WaveClan cats are not necessarily born with the ability to hold their breaths for a long time. Instead, they are born with the ability to learn it, and through training they are able to hold their breaths for several minutes. A young cat who never went through training would not be able to do this.

Practical Uses:

• Obviously catching fish
  
• Swimming to one of the few islands near shore
  
• Escaping predators/enemies

Downsides:

• Because of their oddly large paws, WaveClan cats are clumsy on land and cannot climb/run well.

GrassClan

When given the choice of a blessing, it is said that the leader of GrassClan at the time, Rabbitstar, had nothing to ask. It was his deputy, Swiftwind, who gave him the idea: he asked StarClan to bless his Clan with unnaturally long legs and tails, and spines like the fabled cheetahs of old.

Visual:

• GrassClan cats are much taller than the average cat, with long, skinny bodies, legs, and tails.
  
  
• GrassClan cats' paws are hard pads without retractable claws, like a cheetah's.
  
  
• When they are born, GrassClan kits are the same size as average kits. But they grow much faster than an average cat, and therefore by the time they are apprentices they are much taller than other Clans' apprentices.

Some Practical Uses:

• Catching rabbits and other fast prey
  
• Escaping or attacking foxes and dogs
  
• Running down enemies or retreating

Downsides:

• Young GrassClan cats are extremely clumsy up until halfway through their apprenticeship.
  
• Very high metabolisms mean that GrassClan cats have to eat a lot in order to keep up their stamina.
  
• Low fat index means GrassClan cats do not have much to fall back on--they grow weak quickly if they miss just one or two meals.
